Wildlife on the moon

I enjoyed the idea of discovering a form of wildlife on the moon.

In particular I liked the ending where he increased the population of the wildlife. It made me wonder about the possibility of preserving species by making robots that look like them. You would just program the robots with animal intelligences (possibly with some Asimovian 3 law stuff in there) and release the robots into the wild for nature lovers to enjoy.
