Lunar Names

I was also interested to learn that there was a whole big thing about naming the lunar craters. The world had only recently seen the near side of the moon close up. They had only just seen the far side of the moon at all. Now there were numerous craters that needed to be named.

Apparently a group called "Commission 17 of the International Astronomical Union" was in charge of naming. The letter discussed the possibility of having a crater named Ley. Well, down the time stream we travel to August 2007 and we find that indeed a crater was named after him [en.wikipedia.org].
